Articles with many links

Hi Warriors,

First post, happy to have joined this awesome community!

My first question considers the topic of linking in posts. I started a blog and am adding content to the website. I can see that list posts with links to the best stories/news in my niche could work very well. Besides ranking considerations, I think they will be useful to my readers too.

However, I read on many websites that having a lot of links on a page can get you penalized by Google. There seems you have to write a certain amount of words for every link you use.

What is your vision on this? Do you think I could make regular (weekly) posts with 5 to 10 links in it? How many words would I need to compensate for the links?

Looking forward to your answers :-)

Is that a question or an answer? ;-)

Too many external links make your pages look like spamy. I generally put 3 to 4 outbound links on average. In some posts, the number goes up.

Try to be relevant. Link to 'reputable' pages only. Outbound links steal your ranking and too many outbound links aren't recommended. You can't define a fixed number of words for each link you put on your pages, but yes, there should be your own content. Your visitors visit you for reading your blog, not for finding relevant links to their queries

My posts contain 500+ words and in some, there are about 1500+ words and I have mentioned the number of links above. This would generate an idea in your mind.

Thanks for your answer Rehmat. That gives an idea indeed! I agree with you on the fact that it should all be for the purpose of giving your readers something valuable, something that makes it worthwhile to come to your blog..
So keeping that in mind, I think I could do with some posts with 5 to 7 links in it, as long as I make a good story around it!
