Is this a problem? (SEO) Suggestions?

I'm working on SEO for this website, and have a concern.

Look at this web page;
Shoes Like These... Slingback Sandals | BestShoesToBuy.com

The keywords for SEO are "slingback sandal" etc.

The problem is that there is are so many links on the page. See the left column, a heading for "Topics". Under that column are 36 links alone! Each link in the source code has it's own anchor text and "title=".

Do all those links dilute the SEO efforts, because the "slingback sandals" tags are just a few among so many?

Is this a real SEO problem, what to do about it?

Thanks--

    I would move your "topics" above your current specials and rename it something like Brand Name Shoes. You may be leaking a little pr juice but it remains onsite, which is good.

    Your "current specials" are leaking the juice your talking about...if any at this point...because they are pointing to other sites (at least the ones I clicked did). The term current specials doesn't say anything to the search engines anymore than the "topics" does. Keyword them.

    hint: In your niche, the typed keyword search is much better for the term "sales" than it is for "specials". So you could call your "current specials" something like...Brand Name Shoes Sales...and get a lot more attention.

      Debra, thanks for the suggestions and great ideas. We'll definitely explore those.

      What is the benefit of moving the "topics" to the page above "specials"? The "specials" generate affiliate commissions, is it better to move them down the page?

      Any comment on the dilution of the keywords with all the other tags in the page-source? The keywords are few compared to the quantity of other tags already on that page with all the links there.

      Google may not see the keywords as being significant because of all the other anchor text and tags on the page? Any opinion on that?

      So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

        Because of this right here:

        <ul class="sidebar_list">
        <li id="text-441317791" class="widget widget_text"> <h2 class="widgettitle">Current Specials</h2>
        <div class="textwidget">Endless.com: <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/pj79nmvsmu9DEFBIBD9BAGGHAAD" target="_blank" onmouseover="window.status='http://www.endless.com';return true;" onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;">Save $25 on select women's sandal orders at Endless.com</a><img src="http://www.awltovhc.com/51106uuymsqBFGHDKDFBDCIIJCCF" width="1" height="1" border="0"/> Valid until 29 Jun 2009.
        &nbsp;<p></p>

        Almost right off the bat, you just told google bot to go somewhere else. And then you did it again. That entire sidebar is like poison to you from a se point.

        That's why I said what I did.

        The keyword dilution holds no water if the bot is directed off your page before it gets to where you want it to be to scarf up the info you have.

        I understand that those links are commission producing but also...

        As a customer...I am looking for a brand name shoe. I come to your site via a search. I want to see what kind and how many different brand name shoes you have or if you have a specific one in my size. The specials you have running would be a pleasent surprize...which is a secondary...to entise me to stay there and look around.

        And retitle your sidebars as such.

        Your sidebars should follow the customers thinking and shopping processes.

    I have some suggestion about your description to content and keywords but...I don't want to expose that here.

    If you don't mind...I'll do that up and send it to you via pm.
