Market Samurai Question

I am new to affiliate marketing and have been looking at Market Samurai. I signed up for a free trial version and have been looking at the training videos. My question is does anyone have any comments (pro or con) on the product itself. Is this worth buying or is there a competitor of theirs who does a better job? I appreciate your input.

    Hello RW,

I use MS, and it is really good in my opinion, but remember MS is just the tool, you need to learn the tool so the job can be done correctly.

    Hope that helps!

That is the impression I got from watching the videos. One needs to take the time to understand exactly what the tool is telling you. Thanks for the input.

It is total garbage. Waste of money. They teach some really dumb crap in their training with it too.

Some people just don't understand how to use the tool

      Calling it: Garbage

Don't understand how to use it? Yeah, because it is so complex.

It is a total POS. In fact, I blame their training as one of the big reasons that stupid myth that the number of search results in Google's index tells you something about the level of competition for a keyword.

It provides no useful information. Search volume it pulls directly from Google, except that it takes 10 minutes to do what the Keyword Planner does in 10 seconds.

The competition matrix is total crap. PR, age, # of backlinks, etc. tells you very little about the competition. However, even if you believe that stuff is useful, you could use SEO Quake and get that kind of info in a fraction of the time it takes MS to do it.

I should not have called it garbage though. That was being too soft.

Google Keyword Planner for a general idea of search counts, the ability to analyze the page 1 competition, and common sense is all that you really need.

MS gives you a bunch of fancy numbers that don't really mean all that much.

Depends what are you using it for.

If you plan to use it for keyword research than you will waste your money (it just pulls the keywords from keyword planner).

I use it to check the competition quickly, see their onpage SEO, total number of backlinks, referring domains, PR, TF, CF and stuff like that instead of doing it manually.

Traffic Travis can do this for free, for those who aren't aware.

It's not the be-all-end-all, but it's a good way to get a quick overview of what you may be dealing with. But you still need to do some manual research if you want to truly analyze your competition.

Yep. I like MS and already have it so why not use it, right? But sure, manual research is a must too.

And OP if you want to try it out there is 40 days trial version available.

Yes I also check the strength of the competition.

I look at the current top 10 sites for the keyword selected, and just make sure that there is potential. Even if my findings report very low competition in the SEOTC variable (title competition), we still need to make sure the top 10 isn't stacked with authority sites. For example, if every site in the top 10 is 6 years old, has 20,000+ backlinks, is a PR6, and has all of their meta tags done correctly, (the four Y's are highlighted showing the keyword in 1) Title, 2) URL, 3) Meta Description, 4) Heading?), we may have a tough time surpassing them. In that case, perhaps you should move on and select a different keyword to target. A lot of people get this wrong or never actually do the research and build sites that hardly earn anything.

So in terms of SEO competition, I personally think it's a great tool.

I bought it a couple of years ago and don't like it. In my opinion it's not worth the money. In fact I don't even have it installed on my system. Now I do keyword research using the Keyword Planner and analyse the competition using the SERP.

  • I like it for keyword research (which is free) but sometimes the stats get screwy when Google updates stuff.

I use that more than any other module and that's the free one. The other (paid) features are okay. Rank tracker is nice but you're only allowed to track I think something like 30 keywords unless you pay for more. SEO competition module is nice for looking at your main competition in Google.

I built my first site after researching the keyword on Market Samurai. Never used it again after I learned how to do this for free, and more effectively, with Google keyword planner, and manually checking search results and competitors myself.
