Do you think doing something like a giveaway on facebook where a lot of people can share a post could have an effect on the serps' or likely not?

Any ideas?

Thanks

    Of course not.

FYI: giveaways like that on FB are against FB policy.

Alright thanks for the info. Some companies do make posts on facebook though wherethey say like or share a post to be entered for a free item or something.

Links from Facebook aren't going to help you with the seeps, but if your post does go viral and gets shared on some blogs, that should provide you with some good back links.

But I see pages from Facebook are ranking on first page in Google if you search using some long tail keywords.... means Facebook pages are not too bad to rank as well. But it depends on what you need from ranking the pages.

Sure, the Facebook domain has a heap of authority so it's easier to rank a FB page than it is a brand new domain but having a FB page with lots of shares etc like the OP is talking about isn't going to help from an SEO perspective, although it would be good from a marketing perspective.

        That makes absolutely no sense.

SEO Arbiter? What does the SEO stand for? Just asking.

Having a facebook page rank has nothing to do with the domain of FB.
And it certainly has nothing to do with links ON THE page. Those links
        are not even seen...

A facebook page is severely limited in the ranking signals it has on it.

I would imagine any FB page that could arbitrarily come up, would be brand
name, or in a search where facebook is specified as a search term.

It will only help you to get "INSTANT" traffic. I am almost sure most of them won't be interested, but would click to check WHAT'S inside... But it won't help you to get a better ranking!

Don't hope to get a boost or anything in rankings. But you sure will get more traffic.

If viral facebook posts were a factor for ranking, the serps would be a joke.

Nope. No impact will be seen on SERPs.
