Post an Image or Text on a FB Page ?

Post a Text -- The message url is shorter, SE friendly ?
Post an Image -- The message url is very long and looks like the following

?fbid=526861387402578&set=a.241918889230164.59707. 241915282563858&type=1&theater

Which method is better ?

There is no option to set Search Engine Friendly URLs. And In my opinion posting an image is better because you can post image, description and link too whereas in status posting you can post only text and link.

Also Facebook Image URL like this "?fbid=526861387402578" only.

It will really depend upon your purpose, but if it is to generate traffic, I'd go for banwork's suggestion. It would really be hard to use just images if you are aiming for traffic, but you can try and be more innovative to attract interaction on your page for your activity stats to get a boost.

Photos get more engagement on Facebook so I typically post photos over text.

Better engagement drives more traffic and that is what you should be aiming for. But just like what most are saying, you can just do both. I guess, you just need to be watchful of the links that you will be posting. Long URLs are just too painful for every user's eye.

Photos with a link to a website posted on them or in the text can help you do both at once effectively.

In my opinion, we should upload images with text wherein we can describes our thought. This is the good way to convince our friends...

I've actually done some experiments on this before. Generally, images go viral easier and promote better click-through rates.

Visual content is always more appealing! People don't like reading too much. I would suggest going for an image to grab eyeballs.

Just be more creative in creating images with texts. If you had making videos as an option for this, I would definitely go for it because, as you might have already noticed, videos can be even more viral than images. But since that is not the case, just maximize your capability in making compelling images.

I do both, but more images with a brief description and link.

That said, if you post a link (status update), be sure to use a 560x292 image because it's bigger and will get the attention like an image. I've had decent engagement from links with the larger images plus traffic.

Another tip is planning for any post promotion. By far the best traffic generation I've had is doing a link (status update) with 560x292 image. I put a catchy title in the image (but ensure the text doesn't take up more than 20% of the image).

I then pay to promote this post using targeting features. This works great for tons of traffic for not much CPC if you create a great image. I usually customize my images with arrows and other eye-catching elements.

Pictures with links also work well for a few people. I believe that every company or business utilizes Facebook as per their need. And what works for one might not work for the other.

Do both. You will find you get a better response if you use both... people out there don't want the same boring content give them a reason to open your piece and read it.
