I'd like to learn to work with drupal because I think Wordpress can't do what I want

my goal is to set up a site where writers can create an account, enter their google adsense publisher ID and receive a percentage of the income from their articles.

I know it can be done with drupal and joomla, but can it be done with wordpress?

I don't know enough about coding to know for sure, but I'm pretty sure I can't do that with my hosted WP- or can I?

any advice?

I do not think so it is better to choose wordpress to accomplish your requirements. Wordpress is one of the best blogging solutions. However, Drupal gives you more possibilities to develop you website. I would suggest the book Pro Drupal Development, and I'd also do some experimenting with the API.

    Thanks,

Thank you- my biggest concern was with user privileges, and implementing the google API. I've ordered the Drupal book, now I'm just stalking the postman for amazon boxes. I guess if I knew someone who had implemented the adsense API for revenue sharing on a wordpress site, I'd feel better. So far, everyone I know uses joomla and drupal. I really hated joomla.

I bought "Using Drupal" because I wanted something I could
sit down with and just read and THINK! about how to use
Drupal. The problem with reading docs online is you're always
clicking around and... well, I like to get a real paper book and
get away from the computer and work to really understand
    the concepts.

    "Using Drupal" is pretty good.

I found Joomla maddening. I honestly don't know why people
love it so much. Wordpress is great for a single-user blog
but the platform will be strained by a growing community site.
    Drupal rocks in that department.
