Website Re-design Email accounts

Hi, I am trying to get website redesign clients.

But I want to know what the process agencies and freelancers follow?

I am mostly concerned about clients email accounts when transferring to a new host.

Do agencies/freelancers transfer email accounts to the new hosting provider?

Or is it better to transfer their email accounts to a service like google apps for business?

Overall, what do agencies/freelancers do about email accounts when they take on a website re-design client and it requires switching to a new host.

    I tend to use google apps for email these days. If you are running the email hosting yourself and want to transfer the email accounts over, you can certainly do this but, keep in mind that the new server will not include emails from the old server. Unless they are backed up or retained on users computers they could be lost. You may be able to backup the email on the old server via cpanel (assuming it is using cpanel).

      Would you advice me to recommend my website re-design clients to switch over to Google apps as opposed to having it hosted on the hosting company's serer ?
