In designing websites, which is more profitable, per page rate or a package rate? What is the standard rate?

    Hi Jack
There is no standard rate per se, your best bet is to research your immediate competition by region, skill level and offerings. Determine what you need to live on, then set rates accordingly.
There are so many options in web design I find it impossible to set one rate for a project. One page may need just text and a few images, another may need an ajax photo gallery with 50 images, another may need an interactive form in flash.
Research, set up a basic questionnaire on your site for potential clients and go from there.

I am taking on only ecover design work for the next 90 days. Rates are 47.00 for single cover, discounts for multiple..just ask! No payment until completed.

I have seen most quoting on per page basis.

    Brian is correct....IMHO

In my experience most design sales have been per project. There is just too much variation in what is needed on a site to go per page.
Someone needing modifications is a different story.

It's always good to have a programmer or two available so you can take on dynamic sites also.

    Good Luck

    PS:
swas98, do you know your site doesn't display correctly in Firefox with a lot of the text unreadable?

I prefer to give a quote for any of my web projects. I rarely charge by the hour ($80) unless it's just paid maintenance.
