How can I connect my 1&1 domain to my wix website without disrupting connected email addresses?

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help.

I want my wix website to have a domain that is currently hosted by 1&1, however I want 1&1 to continue to host this domain as there are several email accounts connected to the domain that are used regularly and don't want these to be disrupted. How can I go about doing this, and what are the implications, if any?

Do let me know if you need anymore information.

    I don't have a lot of time to give a good answer but this can be done under many circumstances by changing the MX record in the DNS settings to where you want the email hosted and the rest of the records point to where the actual site lives.

    I have a site I work with where the site is hosted at Stable Host and the email is handled through Office365.com.

    For details, you can do some research on your own about the MX records or ask the customer support of Wix or 1&1. They may have nonstandard setups. I'm not sure.

    Not a big deal. Just need to change Name Server. So all you need is login to wix.com and then Domain you should find Connect Domain you already owned (or something like this text) so select and enter your domain name and it should provide you NS details you need to copy them and then login to your domain account and select the domain and then select the click change name server and use custom option and paste the copied name server. And wait (Max 72 hrs but generally takes a couple of hours) for domain propagation to get completed and you're done.

    Whole process has nothing to do with email. I mean email should work as it is unless you change MX details.

      Thank you for your help. My thinking is that too, but I think I need to find out what settings are exactly going to get changed behind these easy-to-use interfaces before doing it - just in case. I don't want to do something that I can't undo (easily). Thanks again.

      I thought that the goal was to have the site hosted at Wix and the email hosted by 1&1.

      If that's the case and the email is tied to the domain name, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you'll have to change the MX records to pull this off. At least I did.

      That is NOT correct.

      That is simply changing the Nameservers to Wix. In that case everything will change to Wix. No 1&1 settings will remain. (DNS/email etc).

      If you use the domain registrar settings to change Nameservers to another host it normally hands everything over to the new host.

      You need to confirm what you need to do with 1&1. It is most likely that you will need to note your current MX records and edit them at your new host.

      I notice that both 1&1 and Wix have plenty of helpful support articles so suggest go there first.
