Wordpress as CMS for an info site?

I'm planning to create an info site about a game and I'm wondering if I should use Wordpress as CMS for this site.

The site should look like http://thesettlers.us.ubi.com. That means a navigation bar in a column to the left. The content in the central column and some banners/links in a third column to the right.

The content will be static for the most part (e.g. History, Rules, Strategies etc.).

Would you use Wordpress to create such a site?
Can anyone recommend a suitable theme?
What is an appropriate price for a custom header/background?
Would you create Pages for the static content and put these pages on the navigation bar or would you create Posts in certain categories and put these categories on the navigation bar?

Regards,
Michael

I guess there won't be serious problems with using WP for site like that. but you could also consider other CMSs like Drupal.
Appropriate price for custom header and background is around $30-$50. But that's hard to estimate. It depends a lot on quality. Besides that, design is art (functional art), and it is always hard to estimate value of art.
Pages would be more appropriate for static content like introduction, about, overview, features, how to play.... Posts are more appropriate for stories, news, articles.
It would be probably be the best to find someone to do custom designed theme for you. Places like oDesk can be a great source to find quality and in some cases cheap web designers

Wordpress is one of the most popular CMS available, it is used primarily by bloggers but it can still be used as a general CMS - it is available for free from Wordpress.org. It feature contains as it is free, fast and easy to installation, 1000's high quality themes and plug-ins, good visual content editor.

    Hello Michael,

Yes, i can design this project. You should a custom theme so that the design will look like what you want.

Yes i will also create all the categories and pages with navigation baar and build your wordpress website on to your server.

As for my price, when you contact me, we can discuss the most appropriate arrangement. It will probably be fixed price. I never want people to think I am taking advantage of them by doing things by the hour.

    Thanks

You should use the CMS you are comfortable with. If you're planning to use Wordpress then take a look at the wordpress game themes at Theme Forest. With just a few changes, you can actually build a more attractive game site than the example mentioned.

Here are a few of them www. themeforest.net/searches?term=game&type=files&categories=wordpress &sidebar_redirect=true
Do a search there and you will find different styles.

You can surely use Wordpress...I personally love it.
Keep in mind that Wordpress is more for presenting content...is very hard to make a membership or high interactive site with it

Why not? If it works and you're comfortable with it...

Do a custom theme for sure. If you don't know how, you can get me to help you. I can show you some nice simple ones that I've done. The only thing that I'd suggest is that you take it away from the "blog" look...
