I have designed a site for a client at
Charlottesville Bed and Breakfast (B&B) - Prospect Hill Plantation Inn - Prospect Hill Plantation Inn - Charlottesville Virginia Bed and Breakfast - Charlottesville Wedding - in Charlottesville, VA

and am told that the icons and footer at the bottom of the page is skewed to the left.

I don't see this in IE, Firefox, Chrome, Browser shots or Adobe Browser Lab.

It's driving me crazy.

Can as many warriors as possible help me out, view the site and give me your feedback on this issue.

    1st. Yes the footer is totally drifting to the left. I'm using the latest Firefox browser.

    2nd. The footer problem can be fixed with a bit of CSS - find your footer id in the css style sheet and try and add --- align: center;

    3rd. It LOOKS like you used photoshop magic eraser tool to cut out the footer icons and the logo... THEY LOOK HORRIBLE...and straight up classless. Edges are all jacked up and jagged. If you're using photoshop, simply use "inner glow" on the layer in a color that closely matches the background..it will look far better. For perfection, you need to use the pen tool to create path and cut out the icon/logo manually.

    try adding a <div style="text-align:center;"> around the footer then </div>

    and yeah, fix those graphics LOL

    or you can just call an expert like me who would have this done in two seconds and save you a lot of trouble

    cheers,
    Jason

      Thanks for the comments. I will fix it. My client created those graphics and wants to keep them.

        Good effort. You have obviously spent some time and effort on this.

        Here are my thoughts:

        Icons
        I agree with previous comments. The graphic icons are not crisp and sharp. And when you hover over the icons at the bottom, there is a grey or white space at the bottom of the icons....

        Although your client created them, they look cheesy and amateurish.... would get someone from this forum or from fiverrr.com to create quality graphics for you....

        Soundless Video
        Having the video playing at the top of every page is not a good idea... What is the purpose of the video?

        As I went through the site, that 35 second soundless video actually became annoying... not a good thing to have your website visitor experience...

        And there is no sound? I kept playing with my speakers and volume, wondering if something was wrong with my computer...

        You want to have a consistent customer experience. When I see a video playing in flash, I expect a mini-TV, I expect sound... If you really, really want the soundless video, then you should add a note saying "no sound".

        Have the video at the bottom of the pages, or better yet, move the video to a separate page titled "Walking Tour" or something, add nice audio background. You have a "Virtual Tour". Add a "Walking Tour".

        Call To Action
        Add a Call to Action to the end of the 35 second video. What do you want the viewer to do? Probably call now and make a reservation.

        There should also be a clear Call to Action at the bottom of every page on the website. You don't want people to just visit. You want people to book reservations for the meeting rooms and hotel rooms.

        Probably the best Call to Action would be to call their phone number, which is only found in one place - at the very top of each page in a button. Plaster that 1-800 number all over the place. Get that phone ringing!!!

        SEO
        Your on-page SEO is not good.

        The meta tags for each page is the same. You want to spend a little more effort describing each page, especially in the meta description tag, making sure your keyword is in the meta description tag.

        After all, it is the content in the meta description tag which is displayed in second and third lines of Google's search results....

        Just some suggestions...

        Mike D.

      I don't understand. I even reformatted my pc, installed the os and updated everything and it still looks good to me too.

      I don't understand why some are seeing it wrong, unless their pc browsers aren't updated.

      weird

    As previously mentioned, that site is all jacked up in more ways than I can count.

    And yes, with the latest chrome browser your footer is skewed to the left. If you can't see this for yourself try hitting F5 to refresh your browser.

    The fix,

    #footer{
    margin: 0px auto;
    clear:both;
    width:960px;
    height:135px;
    color:#FDF5C7;
    text-align:center;
    }

    That should do the trick.

      Thanks,

      I can't tell if your fix worked, can anyone look at it now. It is 12.38 when the change was made.

      Thanks

    no offense ( original poster) but I wouldn't pass that page off to a clients, looks very nonprofessional .footer and header images need work, as do the on hover effects for images
    the sidebar should be text, not just a big image ( 1 px image repeating down with text over)
    the video is sized incorrectly etc

      You might try a site renderer. I know I occasionally have sites that my clients see WAY differently than I do (and it usually involves some kind of IE or MAC or a combo of the two . . .LOL).

      This rendering site:

      IE NetRenderer - Browser Compatibility Check -

      Has helped me in the past to see what others may be seeing.

      Bottomline, you're not the only one this has happened to . . .

    Can I tell you one little thing? all your images are linked weirdly and give a weird white border under them. All of your images!

    128 errors and 5 warnings... i suggest you start learning html first before creating websites.

    When you hover History, Directions you don't see the little bar appearing when you hover them because the video is overlapping it.

    When i took the virutal tour and then pressed on the home button i get an internal server error

    I would make an image (banner) of a screenshot from the video and add "click here to take a virtual tour" in big letters and make it wide so people will actually see it and will probally click it to take the tour. And that will also fix the problem that your video starts playing on each page

    Hope it helps you
