WHAT IS the best free seo optimized wordpress theme?

I would not focus much on the template itself being optimized for SEO as the majority of your H1 , Meta Keys, Meta Descriptions etc etc are all going to come from within wordpress itself. You want these as dynamic as possible as they are always going to be changing depending on content you are publishing.

My advice is look at utilizing All In One SEO, Yoast, SEO Ultimate or one of the many other wordpress SEO plugins to generate all of this for you.

My personal preference is All In One but have seen great results with Yoast as well.

i don't know, correct me if i am wrong, google is only interested in meta description.
even if you have meta description, if its too long they will create one for you..

I think Catalyst is a great theme which is easy to do almost anything with if you have some website ability. You can do everything with no programming.

Mystique is another elegant and extremely flexible theme. The developers are always improving upon it, and tell you how to customize it on their blog.

Any good theme will have the required things, the SEO part relies on plugins though. AIO SEO, Yoast are good, I switched to SEO Ultimate for my recent builds and I'm happy with it.

There's another similar thread going around on this but I would probably recommend thinking of your visitors first and foremost with the design THEN adding a free SEO plugin like All In One, Ultimate, or something of the like.

I'd check out Themegrade.com. They go into great detail about their reviews of WordPress themes. You can sort by a number of different filters. SEO, and Free vs Premium are just a few. I drilled down a search here: Search Themes - ThemeGrade.com

One suggestion, instead of using Mystique SEO settings use WordPress SEO plugin - complete SEO solution. For improving site speed use "W3 Total Cache", "WP-Optimize" and "Use Google Libraries" WordPress plugins.

Well if someone really need to download best SEO WordPress themes then he/she can visit wordpress.org or getnulledscripts.com as well. They regularly updated their database with new themes and plug-ins for WordPress users. So I think these are the best source to find the favorites...

If you're looking for free themes that are powerful and almost infinitely changeable, you can't go wrong with Suffusion or Atahualpa, both of which rival paid themes.

But the long term solution is going to be to buy a theme - Thesis if you're handy with a wee bit of programming, or Genesis.

I've chosen Genesis. And I've never been happier. Both Thesis and Genesis are frameworks on which you put child-themes - so the website can look like anything you want.
