I've asked for help on timthumb.php images, this is my Final

I have a wordpress theme that uses timthumb to generate image thumbnails. There were some mistakes in the images uploaded and on trying to correct them, it resulted to double images. I tried to delete the older images, but the image placeholder won't go even though the images and it's generated thumbnails has been completely deleted from the site.

I have searched for help on wordpress forum, and also on the timthumb.php author sites and a couple of other sites but no positive result yet. This is my final effort at getting answers.

Please, who can help. I need the placeholders to also go so I can have clean pages with only the correct images showing.

you are still seeing the older images, right?
if so clear the cache folder, after that you should see the new ones.

How do I clear the cache? I went into my cpanel, located the cache folder, I deleted all the image files in it. On refreshing they all came back. I have the new images but the placeholder (the spot where the old images are) is still visible, which is making the site look ugly.

you are looking at the wrong cache folder.
you should look for the one inside your theme folder
      maybe something like this
\wp-content\themes\theme-you-are-using\ look here for a scripts folder with a cache folder inside.

inside cache folder you should see several files like this one
      timthumb_int_b6325cbd5f5c760a59814b75c3934.timthum b.txt

this .txt are the ones you should delete.

delete this files and you will see the new images in your site.

the theme must be using a modified version of timthumb.
the original timthumb version caches the files as .txt

try cleaning the cache of your browser, maybe its caching your site, or force a refresh.

try check the source code of your page and see the path of the image, and check if the image is stored in your server

I guess the modified version is what is causing the trouble. I have cleared my browser cache and the path of the image gives
      =>file not found wp-content/uploads/2012/02/2012-Toyota-Camry-XLE-send-back-inner.jpg<=
because I had deleted the image, however those ugly placeholder marks refused to go.

Failideas, thanks for you help, if I can't sort the theme out, I might have change the theme and that will be a whole day jobs, the car listings are very many.

Olalinks, i tried to remove the script, the result was worse on the site, All the image placeholders remained while the images were gone.

It, seems the theme won't work without the timthumb!

i went on some search and found something that may help you

    Documentation | Automotiv Wordpress Theme
You can return add, delete, and rearrange the vehicle’s images easily by clicking the “upload/insert image” button again. Remember, all your images associated with the current listing is in the “gallery” tab.

if you click on the gallery tab you should see a list of thumbs with respective file names in front and you should also see one line with no thumb and only the filename.

click show on that no thumb row > delete > confirm delete, click save all changes, update gallery and update post.

that would do the trick, if not the only solution is going to edit the database and remove it there.
