The same thing that building a site using Expression Engine, Drupal, Joomla or any other CMS, language or technique is called.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, it's often called 'amateur hack job'.

Anything but web design. It is NOT web design to install WP and upload a theme. It is out of the "web design" realm.

If anyone calls himself "web designer" just because being able to perform the two basic operations (install + upload)... the person is either delusional (read: idiot) or con artist.

Interesting replies people

It still must be called something though ?

And although wordpress is quite simple intially, if you then go on to create ur own themes, headers, graphics it does get a lot more technical and you can create some very good looking, unique websites

So this whole style of web building / design must be called something ?

Creating websites using WordPress is one aspect of web designing. Based on the service involved, it can be called WordPress Customization, WordPress Custom Theme, WordPress Development, WordPress Installation, WordPress Theme. It is not a different stream of web design.

I don't think there is any specific term for it. It's just a form of web design. You could call it Wordpress design, Wordpress theme building, or anything else that make sense.
