Create Menus through the dashboard and set them for each navigation location. This will work if the theme adheres to standard guidelines for WordPress themes.

      thanks for the reply

the menu option within the theme does allow creation of custom menu items for the sidebar BUT the items created -privacy policy and sitemap are visible but greyed out

i tried deleting both these pages and adding a single test page...the 2 sets of navigation links were there both with a link to the new test page..

i think its somewhere in the code maybe due to a plugin in "core seo" which created the privacy policy in the first place..now deactivated and removed...

      any ideas?

  • Its probably hard coded in header.php

Open the theme editor and select header.php (guessing your navigation is on the top of your page)

Do a search for your page and Delete the first one.

Make a copy of the page and save it to notepad first in case you mess it up.

use notepad and search for the string u want to remove, and see are they coded manually on the header.php or using the plugins ?

      hi
i managed to sort out the problem - thanks for your replies

i had to edit header.php and put a double forward slash in the subnav define
      as follows

      change this:
      `<?php require(LIB.'/_subnav.php');?>`

      to this:
      `<?php // require(LIB.'/_subnav.php');?>`

      then all was fine...
