What's the right software for me?

Hi warriors,

I want to have a website like lifesucksbigtime.com. Visitors can register and post questions on my site, and others can post answers or comments. And they can easily find earlier entries by category or archive.

It can allow visitors to register and I can backup all the data.

I tried to buy a website, but later changed my mind because I would need a lot of maintenance. Better I learn to build it myself.

My computer skill level:
I can use Nvu to design simple pages. But no more than that.

What kind of software I should use? (The software is the simpler the better because of my limited computer knowledge. )

Thanks in advance!

For make simple site you should know html
Use notepad++ based on HTML and make very easy site.
If you want make something interesting you should learn CSS. It's help you.
For test your website home, download DENWER.
But as i think u want!!! and u always can make something really cool.
Go on w3schools (dot) com. Find little bit time and learn anything what you need ....
    and make really cool site.
    just do it(C) )))

you can find a pre made script that will be close to waht you want.

It's much easier to learn from editing and working with an existing script then it is to create something from scratch.

Do a search for a clone script one that looks like it might work for what you want is the FMLife clone.

    Thanks everybody for giving help!

I downloaded Bluefish and Notepad++. I copied the FMLife codes to the editors with which I could simply edit the name of the buttons or delete the buttons that I didn't want, or add buttons by simply copying the existing codes. (I can't code new features. But I know what the exiting codes mean.)

After I edit and save the codes as a file, what's next that I should do to upload the file to a hosting? Or what else should I do before I upload?

    Thanks!

Just use WordPress with a Q&A theme or plugin. I think WooThemes has one.

Go with Wordpress it's a far better option than programming all the time for your level. The thing is if it takes too long to program something then you will be reluctant to admit to yourself that you have maybe got the wrong business model. As getting the wrong business model can happen a lot when you are starting out. Take a few things to market and then when you have something that you can love doing and makes a little money for you. Realise that it will take 6 to 8 months to get customers buying if you have chosen a saturated market, and a few days if you have discovered an untapped market need for a group of people. Work on what you love and find the untapped need if you can. Oh and the few days is after you have built a competition beating website/business model, which may take a month or two.. or 6 or 12...

So true pwarde. I dream I could have a competition beating website just in a few days. But I am not a programmer. I had a programming partner 2 weeks ago. After he discussed over and over again with me on the website building for a month he suddenly disappeared. It's why I decided to build it myself.

Thank you Freedom66K and JohnMIS, I am also considering wordpress. I didn't understand it much when I tried it last year. But when I tried to use Joomla, I started to understand it more. I'm looking for the basic idea behind wordpress and the relationship between it and its templates.
