Blogger vs. Wordpress

The thing with blogger is you don't own it. At any time google can say they don't like it and shut your blog down. With wordpress you get the benefit of owning the site. No one can take it down, you own it. And, if you ever want to sell it you always have that option, you don't with blogger.

This is just nonsense. It's pure fiction. Blogger doesn't "provide you with great traffic". Where do people get this stuff from?!

It doesn't matter.

Because even if they are (and some are), that isn't a reason for you to use it.

The success of a site doesn't typically depend on where it's hosted. But whether it's safe and secure and will still be there a year later does depend on that. And that is a reason for you not to use it.

Those Blogger sites that people are successful with would be just as successful if they were hosted somewhere else. Don't make the mistake of imagining, just because some people have successfully hosted there, that it was a sensible, necessary or advisable thing to do. They're just the lucky ones and there were thousands more who weren't so lucky. "Whole sight - or all the rest is desolation".

It's not the fact that Blogger is free that's the problem. Yola and Blinkweb and 000WebHost and Byethost are all free, too, but none of them has the same problems and drawbacks that Blogger (and Squidoo and HubPages) have.

Don't imagine that "Google will prefer a Blogger site 'because Google owns Blogger'," or anything of this kind: that wishful thinking is for people (and there are plenty) who live in a dreamworld.

The bottom line is that there's nothing to think about here. Self-hosted Wordpress blogs are safe, secure and reliable. You can own them yourself. And you don't even have to pay for either the software or the hosting. Why are we even talking about this?!

What will rank your site higher has very little to do with a special template or plugin. It has EVERYTHING to do with the content that you put on the site and the relevance of the backlinks that are created to the site.

Do not put garbage on it. Do not put posts that are under 1000 words. Do you use plugins like WP-Robot (which is a great plugin) on it so that you can get around creating content.

Do not buy tons of crap backlinks. Read that again.

Take your time, do the necessary work, and reap the rewards.

I think these are essentials, but you can make a search on forums to see what other Warriors may say.

There are also other plugins that can boost your results, both paid and free. Like the ones for social media shares, or search engine ranks.

Other than the essential ones, I use different plugins for different ones. It all depends on what you'd like to do with your site. It's same with the themes for me.

There's no requirement that you do anything. What my post was intended to do was to tell you how to successfully rank your site.

Google wants quality. Quality. QUALITY!!! (Yes, I'm screaming that at the top of my lungs because 97% of the people at the WF don't believe it.)

You can stick 250 words posts on your site all day long and Google will glance at them and then laugh as the spider moves to the next site. Google is looking for long posts and actions-over-time to rank your site.

And WP-Robot is an auto-poster. It grabs stuff from all over the Internet and puts it on your site. DO NOT USE IT ON YOUR MONEY SITES. It's great to create second- and third-tier sites, though.

I agree with everyone else - I would not touch Blogger and would only use WordPress. As everyone else has said, Google can take your blog any time they feel like it if you use Blogger. Why take a chance and waste all that hard work?

Two popular free blogging platforms are Blogger and Wordpress. I think WordPressis a more powerful blogging platform. I consider WordPress to be nicer and more powerful than Blogger. You can also find better templates for WordPress than you can for Blogger.
Blogger is a free service, and is hosted by Google, no less. Unfortunately, that also means the search engine giant has a say in the kinds of content you get to post. If you've taken the time to read through their Terms of Service, you'll find that Google can remove or refuse to publish your content anytime and for any reason they see fit.
WordPress, you're the only one who's entirely in control of your blog and the types of content you put in it. The fact that your blog and its contents cannot be deleted without your permission is also a big plus to bloggers looking to exercise their right to free speech and creative expression.
