Hello there,

I'm putting the design specs for a squeeze page design. I'm going with a content area width of 974px. Optimized for 1024x768 resolution. Does that alright for a traditional squeeze page?

Thanks!

    Hi Alan,

Might want to bring your content area with to be within 800 for the 800x600 users.
Though it's optimized for 1024x768 users, I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss out on
    the 800x600 people as well!
If you have a site tracker on any of your existing squeeze pages, doing a check on the
monitor resolutions will give you a good idea on what size you might want.

Alan I would have to agree that staying around or better, under 800 would make it more viewable to more screen sizes.

I always try to get an idea for design by looking at what the "Big Boys" are doing on their sites. Google, Yahoo, MSN...

Just look at Blogger (Google owned) and Wordpress which are trying to appeal to the biggest audiences out there and the Wordpress default template is fixed at around 760 and anything beyond that they use a "floating" percent like 65% - 80% depending on the design ( how many columns, room for 125x125 ads, 250x250 ad blocks...)

Google's Blogger comes in thinner than that at 680 - 760

So based on what they are doing I try to follow and stay under 800.
The home office might be getting a bigger screen but remember there are more people now working at "Internet Cafes" with laptops.

      Matt
