SOS...
I'm setting up a Wordpress blog and will use Hostagator for my webserver. Everything is simple & straightforward until I come to the email address field. Do I simply make one up on the spot like say, admin@bla bla .com, or info@bla bla.com, or does Hostgator provide this? Barring that, should I create a new one in Outlook or register one with Gmail first?

Thanks for any help.

Creating a gmail account is not necessary, you can just set up your own company email using hostgator's web mails. If you don't want to access your mail in hostgator, then you should configure a forwarder and send the emails to your gmail or yahoomail. Hope this helps.

HostGator has a lot of tutorials on this, too:

If you're talking about the email address that's required during the Wordpress install process, you can use any email address. This is so that Wordpress can email you the password for the admin account. It can be changed at any point later on.

If you want to use an email account on your domain, simple create one before running the script. You can access the account by using Outlook or a site like mail2web.com - Pick Up Your Email.

If you're using the WordPress installation within Fantastico (via your CPanel) the e-mail address field will already be filled in with the address assigned to your hosting account. You can just use this address (and you can alway change the admin e-mail address later using the control panel).
