Landing page design review?

I want to share this landing page which I have been working on. I had an old domain which was has been dormant for a while as a directory, so I have converted it into a single landing page. The idea is to simply attract visitors to subscribe to my mailing list, and in return they receive free downloads (and the occasional product).

At the moment I don't have much free content to display as samples so instead I have listed what I will be sending out. This way I can create the impression of content before I have even created it, I thought this was a pretty clever idea . Obviously I will gradually create more content, I want to send quality graphics and build a good rep.

Anyway here is the design and I would appreciate feedback, if you were a visitor would you have subscribed or would you just be left confused?

I had some trouble getting a decent whole page screenshot but you can check the site out live here. Marketutopia

    Hiya,

    I like it.

The only couple of things I'd change is make the background scroll with the rest of the page - it's a little disorienting as it is.

Also - have you got a softer/more casual profile pic?

    Good luck with the site.

Thanks for the review, you just gave me an idea for a basic background with light tiled icons which I feel would work more efficiently. Also I guess I do look a little to serious lol, I have a DSLR so I might have to setup some more friendly portrait shots for the author profile.

I think you are enforcing visitors to do a little too much work in terms of scrolling and finding the call to action.

I would suggest split-testing the call-to-action positioning and making the CTA much stronger on the page.

    Nice design though

The top area made my eyes spin lol. I agree with the scrolling though needs some work.

Thanks for all the feedback, I have removed all rotating messages etc which seems to have also fixed the slow scrolling. Where should I place the newsletter form? At the moment I have is just below the image and also at the bottom.

Good stuff shared by you,When a web user reaches a website after clicking on an advertisement, search engine query or email marketing link, the marketer or website owner expects a positive action. A breathtaking landing page revolves around :

Captivating call to action such as Shop Now, Sign Up, Contact Us, and Subscribe Now.
    Luring offers
    Catchy headlines
    Text supporting visuals
    Social proof (Testimonials and Portfolio)

If you want to get the more or described information on how we create a good landing page then read this post.I Think you getting the clear idea after reading this post. Anyway best of luck from my sight.

I thought this thread would be dead my now, I have made a few changes since those original pics. You can check them out live at. Marketutopia.com

The front page is now far more simple, with a 1080p screen the newsletter form is also visible above the fold. So do you still think it needs more vivid colours? I could probably make the text pop out a little more, I don't want to make it look like a hideous WSO sales page though (no offence warriors :p).
