Web Design For Beginners

WEB DESIGN

What is a good product or site to join on web design for beginners. I know nada, zip, zilch on designing my own site or sites for others. What is available for someone in my shoes. I would like to learn everything I can from A to Z but need to begin at the sub-A position, acquaint myself with all the basics and go up from there.

Something that covers HTML and WP. I believe that mastering these would enable me to work with any other platforms.

PS - Not looking for an ebook. Want video/audio tutorials with pdf transcripts would be best. If I see it, I can do it.

When I started out nearly 6 years ago now, all of it was self learning. One thing I will say get yourself the proper software first. Dreamweaver is probably the best for html & css editing. Youtube has hundreds of videos to get you started and its free!!! A night college course would also be advantageous if you can afford it. Get the tools, start with the basics and build from there. Personally speaking I left the Wordpress and content management systems alone until I got to grips with the basic concept of web design!

The best website for beginners should be w3schools. The best software should be DW, but if you are a rookie, you can try some online softwares such as wix, which is very simple for a beginner.

HTML and WordPress is a great place to start. Here's a Free WordPress Installation Guide that's loaded with videos, that may come in handy.
