Things to learn IN ORDER:
html/html5
css/css3
basics of javascript .
Start trying to rip html templates of websites without any software. (for educational purpose only )- It will not be as easy as you think. A little complex website will be quite hard to rip and you should know nuke and corner of css to know where to find what , which you will get once u get more practised in css.

then wordpress. Start with basics of wordpress and start digging deeper like analyzing the templates.

Then the next level = PHP/ASP (PHP is totally opensource whereas asp is not) It is your wish to choose which ever you want but I will recommend PHP.

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

if you do not want to use CMS applications to build a website.
You need to know HTML and CSS, Php well.
and the tool you need to use is dreamwaver, photoshop and more.

I would look at tutsplus.com or teamtreehouse.com (I've had better experiences with tutsplus).

In terms of what coding you should learn in order:
1.) HTML/CSS
2.) Javascript/Jquery
3.) PHP/MySQL

One thing I highly recommend is to actually learn a little something about design...

Color Theory
How people's eyes move when they scan a new page
What not to do... things like having music or video start playing as soon as they load a page are major annoyances

You'll also want to learn a graphic design program like Photo shop or Gimp. Gimp is powerful and free... personally, I prefer Photoshop, but that's what I learned first. Gimp is just as good nowadays.

You can find beginners tutorials all over YouTube and the web. I recommend "You suck at Photoshop" if you decide to use Photoshop. You can pick up an old license for CS for a hundred bucks now or just bootleg it if yer morals lie in that direction.

There is a lot of learning to be done and if you're wanting fully interactive sites like WordPress or Facebook it's not an easy road ahead. If you've never programmed before you need to learn the basics of coding before jumping in to a language.

PHP is great... you'll also need to learn how to use My Seal or some other database solution as they work hand in hand.

Good luck my man... it's a long hard road of studying and application but in the end it's worth the effort.

Hi, first off I have to tell you that you will need at least months of experience before you can start building a complete website from scratch (properly). Programming skill can be developed with practice over time and there is no alternate to that. So you need to have patience.
