Is forum traffic still worth it?
I am not sure why so many people overcome this traffic source.
I see a lot of questions like “Is forum traffic still worth it?” and most of the answers are something like “It was back in the years, but not now…”.
But I can’t agree with them. The truth is that you can get a lot of targeted traffic thru forums.
For example, I can create a steady flow of targeted traffic of around 50 visitors per day in a matter of a week or even less. And the best part is that this traffic will be all FREE targeted traffic.
In the past I have tested a forum traffic strategy for selling affiliate products, and boy, it converted at 9% for an offer with average of 6% conversion rate. That means on every 100 visitors, 9 have bought the offer.
That’s more than good for cold traffic (yes, it’s targeted, but it’s cold, which means that I haven’t built any relationship with those visitors before sending them to the offer.)
So, imagine that you can start driving 50 visitors to an offer in just a week time from now, would that be a good start for you if you are a complete newbie?
I think so!
And 50 visitors per day may equal $1000 per month or even more.
It’s not much, but it’s definitely a good start for someone making $0 online currently.
Ways to get traffic from forums
1) The first and the most popular one is your forum signature.
Every time you post to thread your signature will appear under your post. People will see it and if the “call to action” is good enough, a high percentage of them will click to see what’s on the other side.
By saying high percentage in that case I mean around 1%. So, from a post that’s viewed 1000 times you can get 10 clicks.
And don’t be scared of that numbers, a lot of posts get much more views in just couple of days.
Something important to mention is that you are not allowed to put affiliate links directly in your signature, but you can overcome that rule by creating a squeeze page or a landing page and redirecting the traffic to the affiliate offer from that page.
2) Generate traffic via WSO’s, both free and paid.
This method works simple as that - you create a report on a specific topic, then you recommend products in it, then you sell it or give it away.
Percentage of those who get the report and read it will click on the affiliate links and percentage of them will buy the products.
Simple as that, and the best part is that you create the product once and then you cash in for months or even for years.
So, if you make $200 bucks from a report per month, how many can you create for 30 days? If you don’t have experience, you can go with 3 per month.
I personally can write one every 2 days. (I have done that for 20 days for an experiment.)
Forum Marketing the right way
To achieve gut results with forum marketing you should first build good reputation.
The easiest way to do that is by sharing free valuable information in the community.
You should be recognized as someone that helps others, not just spam with the idea to get clicks on your links.
If someone is asking for help. Be the first one that provides that help and let your post be the most helpful from all posts on the thread.
If you don’t know the answer to a specific question, then simply bookmark the thread and check what others have answered. This way you will now know how to help if someone else asks the same question in the future.
Forums can be really powerful and in my opinion they are the best way for a newbie to start driving free targeted traffic to his website.
Just be helpful, be there every day, be constant and build trust. Check what the forum gurus do and just copy their strategy, but implement it in your own way!
