As Wordpress SEO Techniques, we want to focus on a specific area of SEO which is little talked about yet yields HUGE results for Google, Yahoo and Bing indexing - the opening use of anchor text in onsite pages and blog posts.
We know that it is popular for webmasters to set-up a website and immediately try to obtain high PR back links. We would never say that back links aren't critical to receiving high organic search ranks but they must be obtained in conjunction with in post anchor text.
Where most beginner and even experienced webmasters lose search engine optimization momentum are in the following areas:
There were very few Wordpress sites which have done as much SEO testing as have we. In the past, and most certainly going forward, whenever we hear one supposedly new SEO trends, the latest being the ultra-mysterious 'Google Panda update' we test, test, test!
It is with that authority we present blog as being one of the top three most critical areas of on-site optimization. This of course, includes such marketing practices as social bookmarking and back link building however, your greatest source of geo-targeted traffic must come from highly ranked pages and posts.
This is accomplished by establishing a flawless SEO breadcrumb trail which begins with optimized permalink structures, moving on to opening 'anchor text' and finishing with hyper-linking between relevant content.
We received an e-mail from a very enthusiastic student of ours, asking a question which should be shared here - "I bought your reseller package and wonder why of the eight hours in the SEO video tutorials anyway, you spent more than two of those hours dealing with articles (posts)?"
The answer is simple - whether banners, sidebars, footers, on-site advertising or other traffic generation techniques, none is more important to website traffic generation as is page and post SEO.
We didn't think it extreme to produce two hours of strictly on page optimization because it fits into a larger search engine optimization picture which can affect the future success or failure of your business.
First, optimize your pages and posts forgetting about the myth of 'over optimization'. Next, use that highly optimized post to generate back links.
