Hi everyone ,as mentioned I have been studying and taking lots of courses over the 2 years online and have dipped my toe in everything from affiliate marketing to CPA offers and also web design and marketing. I do not tell you this to impress you as there is a lot out there to learn and hopefully will save some of you guys so me time and heartache :p
one of the most important skills you should learn to do, at least to some level is how to build a website or lets get down to basics build a webpage because thats ultimately where they land so you need to be able to make a squeeze or capture page or sales page or review page whatever but the mechanic and choice involved throw up all sort of obstacles , some people outsource it all but this is not the way t goo as when it goes tits up or breaks or your email form is not configured correctly you can t fix it.
There are a ton of options out there from free like weebly.com or Wordpress.com but i think its better to have a self hosted Wordpress site rather than host on Wordpress itself as for those who can remember Wordpress dumped thousands of blogs a few years back and peoples business went down the pan literally overnight without warning
That is not having control so hosting is very cheap now a few dollars a month so its well worth the peace of mind also Wordpress has about 54% of the market last stats i seen and is used by fortune 500 companies so your in safe hands.
The thing i like about Wordpress is that its easy to learn you don’t have to be a super coder or learn html but its advisable to learn the basics you have flexibility to add functions such as image galleries etc and the list is endless also its open source so it is constantly evolving ad developers are always bringing out better faster more stunning designs and plugins.
The mechanics of making a webpage or Wordpress site are pretty straight forward and you can do it in a day from nothing
you need get a hosting package this is somewhere to hold your site online sort of like your carrier for your mobile phone you need a hosting company check on forum here there are loads of post on best ones and its an important choice but not that expensive.
Buy on domain name from a registrar this is somewhere like namecheap or godaddy this is your site or page name it can be anything niche related or your name my new one is simonbyrneonline just updating and rebuilding it now.
I explain this like your mobile number or cell when people add in your name to google or address bar it looks and finds you first going to hosting then site.
Next you install Wordpress through cpanel in your hosting account or through ftp some hosting have one click install which is ideal this installs your default theme and makes the website for you in minutes remember to pick a good username and password not admin as you can get hacked but more on how to prevent that later on. once you install you now have a website up and running.
you need then to configure your pages and get the look and feel right you can just have one page or an entire site with 50 pages it up to you have a look on youtube for how to configure /format the pages there is loads of free vids on it there.
finally if you need to add an opt in form get an account with Mailchip ,Get Response or Aweber and copy and paste your form on to page again see videos how to do this takes literally 5 minutes
Thats it Wordpress is amazing there is nothing you cannot do of course if you need another Facebook your going to want something else but for the majority of our needs its great
make a decision today to learn it - its a great skill to have and there are loads of cheap courses some free bootcamps to get you started if you want more info let me know as pretty deadly now on Wordpress as spent a god time getting good it at and enjoy its creative side as you are only limited by your imagination
