How Do You Promote 30 day trial Pay Per Sale Offers With Paid Traffic?

I'm very interested in promoting antivirus software and others like this via Bing PPC or 7search but I don't understand how i'll be able to monitor my spending against my sales correctly.

These offers usually let the user install and use the software for free and have a 60 - 90 day cookie but by then I may have spent way too much money on a campaign before realising it's a dud.

Does anyone here promote trial software via paid traffic and if so whats your method?

    Have you sold it via other means? How many download? Of those how many ended up buying? Use that as a guide.

    If you have never sold, set a budget, when the budget is done, stop the campaign, wait to see results?
