Are Adsense Marketing Strategies similar to Internet/Affiliate Marketing?

Hello everyone,

I would greatly appreciate your full attention and support and thank you all in advance. I have been doing CPA marketing for a while but I've decided to slow down a bit and concentrate a little bit more on AdSense. I am legally blind so affiliate marketing became very hectic for me and this doesn't mean I will stop but I want another source to earn some income with and balance it out. I always had google ads on one of my websites but I didn't really earn much with it....maybe $4-6 a month with it. As a CPA marketer, as most of you already know, I used to use landing pages and PPC traffic to make commissions but if I am not mistaken, AdSense/blogs require a different strategy for marketing. I always see with high authority blogs mainly concentrating on SEO which is kind of impossible for me (especially in 2019). What I want to know is....TWO THINGS!
1) How much traffic is actually required on a certain blog/website to start earning a good amount? (if you only place good ads...no affiliate or other offers)
2) What source of traffic are best known for blogs/adsense or what strategies can be done besides SEO? would the CPA traffic sources achieve the same results?

Your advice and knowledge is greatly appreciated...

AdSense pays peanuts in relation to most affiliate stuff.

Long ago, when I was doing AdSense, Google said they paid 70% of what they got.

But it's hard to know what they got, the keyword tool only gave averages.

In my case, it seemed I used to get 45% of the average.

Assuming you get 45% of the average, the next thing to do is to look up averages for your keywords.

General topics have lower averages than specialized-knowledge ones.

I started in the mortgage industry, back then, I was averaging $1.95 per click. That gave me the idea to do exercise and fitness... However, there, my average was $0.12/click.

Before you say, yuck, you have to look at number of searches...

So, look up some keywords... look up how many searches you get, assume you're #1 and, therefore, could get 30% of the searches to click on your ads, compare.

By the way, for my mortgage site, the CTR was a bit over 13% but there were some 10 or 11 times fewer searches than for mortgages. If I remember correctly.

In any case, I decided it was not worth it.

But, for some people it might be.

The type of articles you put up is going to be different... you don't want to solve a problem, just to get them excited about the possibility that a solution exists... So, you give a lot of info about what, not so much about how.

Keep in mind that people read from left to right, top to bottom... when it comes to where you place ads. In my case, top middle ads outperformed any other ad, as long as it was not utmost top (I had a subject line and 2 or three lines of text before the ad... Ads that were on the left at the top (very top or a couple of lines below) were my best next performers, then bottom of the page, then middle of the page. (I was working with the idea that people scan a web page in an F pattern (look up heatmaps).

Back to keywords, mesothelioma keywords cost advertisers over 200 (some over 300) dollars per click... But there are fewer searches than many other topics.

Google will check your content... if it determines it's thin, they stop serving ads on your site, so pick an area where you can provide good / useful content and that has enough searches to provide you the money you want.

A lot depends on what percentage of visitors will click on ads. A lot depends on how many visitors you can generate. The rest depends on how much people pay google for a click. (By the way, when people found my pages through Google's network, my average went down from $1.95 to either $0.75 or 0.65, if I remember correctly, In any case, a lot.)

Thank you very much for all the details.......so all your traffic was organic from google? Or you had other marketing methods like paid traffic? As for your adive on the keyword costs.....do you mean like go to the clock controls in adsense and block all low cost categories? The thing is from what you're saying....it looks like my website is going to flop...HAHAHHAHHAHHA. It is a website about religion.

C'mon, you can't believe that there are 0 people interested in religion. AND mesothelioma attorneys!

Doesn't the Good Book say that
Day one, the Almigthy created man
        Day two, mesothelioma,
        Day three, mesothelioma attorneys?

        My traffic was all organic.

I have not checked, but I am guessing your keywords pay Google 1 to 12 pennies so you would need a gazzilion visitors to make a good living.

It is hard to give you concrete advice. It takes time for one to start making money on AdSense. I hear CPA is more promising but I have no details. So my take is that find how you can make AdSense to be more productive.

Yeah CPA is more if you work 24 7 like a dog...CPA networks constantly and suddenly drop the offers all the time which pisses me off because I had some good ones running then my income is gone. Also the amount of scrubbing they do is unbelievable.....I am too blind for all of that shit now, don't wanan deal with it anymore.

You need to find high paying adsense keywords and build a site around and drive traffic. For e.g. a keyword mesothelioma has $86.67 cost per click, so if somebody clicks on that ad , you'll earn some serious cash. Likewise, there are lots of other high paying keywords , you just need to dig around.

    Hi Ibraham,

1: You do the earning of money through your clarity, generosity, practicing of skills and networking with other bloggers in your niche. Traffic does not bring profits buddy because traffic is numbers on a screen. Humans who love your content and trust you and your skills just click on Adsense ads and increase your profits.

2: No traffic source yields more GA profits because humans clicking on ads yields more GA profits. Think of it this way: when you click an online advertisement it was not because you found the ad through some traffic channel, but because the ad intrigued you and you trusted the site and site owner or network enough to click it. Same deal with you as a blogger. This was a tough one for me to embrace but doing so helped me in all ways, online.

Thank you for sharing your experience....different view and valid points. But like you said, I will try my best to do that even though I don't think I have much to offer to other bloggers and networking skills are ot great lol.

I use Adsense on some of my blogs, but it does just pay pennies. I also list affiliate products that pay a lot much compared to Adsense.

To increase your adsense income you have to increase your PAGE VIEWS

    Why?

If you only give your site's visitors ONE CHANCE to see (and possibly click) your ad, you might not earn all that much with Adsense

There are a few tricks you can use to increase your Adsense revenue

    1) Post longer content and chop them into multiple pages

    2) Boost Dwell time by using multimedia elements

    3) Write teasers into your text to get people to click the NEXT PAGE link

    4) Start an email list and get your past visitors to come again by notifying them of new posts

AdSense works great for click based sites where users land to make some clicks like download sites. Affiliate marketing always works great compare to AdSense. The big part is that you really don't know when you account get suspended without any clue.

I've been promoting CPA offers for over 18 years. I couldn't ever imagine switching over from driving traffic to CPA offers to Adsense. I have little dought the money would dismal.

If you're not doing as well as you would like with CPA, have you tried promoting PPL (pay per lead) offers?

Promoting PPL offers is how I've managed to be so successful. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross-promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the PPL offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

I have also done just as good with dating website sign-ups and pretty good with free trial + S/H offers. I also promote a very limited number of offers that are straight sales. For them, mass appeal is still the number one thing I look for and I also look for one of the following...

    1) The product is new and/or novel-unique and you can't purchase it locally or even something similar. I don't waste my time with it once something similar shows up in Walmart.

    2) The buyer can truly get what is being offered at a decent discount.

    3) Solves a house is on fire type problem.

However, I mainly promote non-PPL offers on the backend.

Bottom line, it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

    Something to think about.

  • My Adsense experience has been very costly paying up to $4.50 a click depending on the keywords/phrases you target.

I discovered a great keyword tool and managed to get my targeted Adsense keywords down to as little as 0.05 cents a click.

Trying to gain revenue as an affiliate is always very challenging.

Earning income that allows you to become financially free with Adsense can place some people into severe financial difficulty, before they realize it, they are getting a bill from Adsense for $10k.

My professional advice is to drive traffic to your site or links using an effective email marketing mailer, this has always worked for me, driving at least 1000 clicks a day for less than $1, now that is effective building and growth for your business.

Adsense marketing is similar to affiliate marketing because people have to trust the content and your website before they click the ads.
