Warriors Don't Have Kids...

Interesting statistic. Apparently, according to US demographic data, 87% of warrior forum visitors have no children ages 6-17. They're also mostly older males who make less than $30,000/year and never went to college.

Think I'm making this all up? warriorforum.com - Quantcast Audience Profile

Very interesting tool. Look up some other sites on there, you'll find interesting data - and it is all relevant to marketing on those sites, or to those that visit them!

You can find that out, too - on the main page for the warrior forum on Quantcast, it shows what percentage of visitors are just passing by, and how much traffic the regulars bring. Interesting stats there, too.

        Good question!

I'm sure its some huge algorithm that compares what sites a visitor visits, uses what data it has about those sites, and spits out a formula. I'd still be interested to know exactly how they sort this out.

Wow, I guess I have nothing in common with Warriors. LOL

I'm a young male (34) who makes a lot more than $30k. I went to college and grad school (MBA).

I also have two kids ages 4 and 1.

      Me neither - LOL

      - I am 29 make a lot more than $30K as well

      - am one 2 page paper away from having a Bachelor's Degree
(took all required classes, but started making more money online
then I ever would at a job I got out of college)

-have a 2 year old, a 1 year old, and baby #3 on the way at the end of May

But the stats can be accurate, considering my kids aren't close to 6

  • Also notice how I didn't say members, I said visitors. Member demographics are probably different. Just thought it was an interesting tool, but maybe I went about getting attention to it the wrong way?

I don't fit those demographics either. I'm a 21 year old female who went to college (didn't graduate, though.) But think of who would visit this site without becoming a member, or a regular. Somebody who was looking for a way to make money online, but wanted it easy. I mean sit-on-your-butt-and-have-a-PC-ATM easy. And I'm guessing that most of them are men (a lot of men still feel they should be the primary bread winners, and more men work physical labor jobs - the jobs where we're seeing a lot of layoffs), many of them are probably late 30s early 40s like the statistics say (as they are less likely to retrain for a new position, and probably have more responsibilities than the younger crowd but less savings than the older ones), and if they had gone to college they probably wouldn't have either of the above problems.

Then again, apparently the WF attracts MORE people who went to college or grad school than the average website. It just isn't a big percentage of our visitors.

Lol I don't fit at all. I have a daughter in that age range (as well as 4 under it), went to college, make over $30K a year, am a 27 year old female.

    Cherilyn,
It does say in regards to the under 6 age of being 13% of forum members.

Me neither. 35YO married female with 2 kids in that age range, and I make more than 30K.

I think the point about visitors vs. members might be accurate, but I would still think the demographic would be a little more varied than that.

interesting, but same as others, how do they get these information about age, # of children, .....?

what they showed is probably the MEAN of some data, but what's the confidence interval? without it, the data is meaningless.

Well I'm a 23 year old woman who's married but no kids. And I DO make less than $30,000 a year as of now. So I guess they got all but the age and the gender thing right with me

I actually looked at few sites on quantcast and I don't think they're pulling the numbers out of thin air. No, they can't be truly accurate, but I think they do show some interesting trends.

And like Cheryl pointed out, it's VISITORS not members.

Plus, I take heart...my main site (that they say has limited data, but they stil offer some info), has visitors with a yearly household income up to 60K. Not like the <30Kers that hang around here....hehehehe.
