Quick question, I normally use cold calling, b2b, direct mail, and regular text email for client acquisition. I'm going to start adding in "video email" to my arsenal and I have a question about the script.

I'm going to keep the video very short, 2 min tops and the first test is going to be to restaurant, pub, nightclub owners about mobile marketing.

How do you recommend I approach them in the video? I was thinking about keeping in informative (statistics) and telling them how it can be beneficial to them and I also offer a 30 day free trial with my sms marketing service and it's worked great, is that something you think I should mention in the video or should I keep it completely informative and avoid sounding "salesy".

Thanks, Daniel

Let me congratulate you in thinking outside the box and using video email to generate leads. Using video email is an excellent way to generate leads. That being said you want to be informative. I'm going to suggest a system.

First, do some research in finding out what in your prospects industry is a challenge / concern that your industry solves. Second, form a question that you can ask concerning this issue. Third, call on your prospects. However answers let them know who you are and the name of your company. Tell them you are calling on behalf of a study you're doing and you would appreciate their help if they would give their impression on what - then give them a short version of the question and than give them a moment. They'll let you know if they are the person you should be speaking to. If not ask for the owner.

You may tweak this up a little but this is basics of getting to the person you want to send your video to. You're not asking for an appointment but you have a legitimate purpose to want to speak to them.

Some you may not get to but those you do ask them the question. Those who you get to speak with will give you the gold. They will tell you their concerns write down what they say better if you can record it. You thank them for their time and input and what email address would they like the results of the study sent to. You now know who and where to send your video.

Now you put together a video giving them an important relevant report that they can use. Just don't make it too long. You decide if you want to send it them individually addressing each of them or make one for all. At the end of the video you let them know they can ask you any further questions or comments. If you have a trailer video of your company send it with it.

You have come off as an expert that they can come too IF you have given them some real info that is useful to them. Afterwords follow up with emails with more important industry updates and some information on your company. The idea is they will be opening your emails. And yes you will ask for the sale. You earned it. But do it after at least your 4th email. Try to send an email about every two days.

The thing is Daniel this way you don't come in holding your hat. You maintain your position of strength. Instead of you trying to push the door in. They'll open the door welcoming you in.

Yes, it's not quick but after a few weeks of this you will be seeing results. Hope this has helped let me know what you think. And if you do it this way I'd like to know.

    Tony

    Daniel,

Video emails work well for me.
    • Try not to go over 3 minutes
    • Definitely mention the 30 day trial in the video
    • I see so many of these videos with stats & bs. 775 users have mobile phones...blah blah blah. Focus on how your service can quickly make them money. Business owners want to see a return on their investment. Period.

This is a good WSO on video marketing. I don't have anything to do with it other than I bought it.
