Links in posts???

I am using one of your threads as my example only because I know I'll get a straight answer from you. I am not by any means pointing any fingers or implying anything. I trust you enough to know you will tell the truth.

In this post:

there are 2 words that have links to ads.

The first is services and when you hover over it, you see a TaxAct ad.

The second is information and when you hover over it, you see an ad for credit scores.

Are we now allowed to put links to ad campaigns in our posts? If so, how much do they cost as I can't see this forum missing out on ad revenue. If not, who the hell puts them there and why?

I will freely admit I probably missed a post about this cuz I've been living in a cave but I am seeing this more and more and it sure is irritating. Somebody comes on here with a good sounding title or asks for help and the post has two to three ad links. It is an effing sham post just to post affiliate links.

Again, brother, I ain't saying yours is a sham. I am asking a question and I know you'll give me an honest answer.

If this forum is turning into an advertising venue, well, who needs that?

    There are no links in that thread nor in your post. You have some adware installed on your computer and browser.

    One of the first things you should check, depending on which browser you're using, is to see which extensions and add-ons you are using. I might also suggest you use malwarebytes Anti-Malware. The free version will probably clean up your adware.

      I just checked my addons and found:

      Coupon Companion

      Apparently if you download from cnet and I'm sure other sites, they add it to their free downloads. I found this site:

      Coupon Companion Adware - CNET Forum feedback Forums

      in which several disgruntled people aired their dissatisfaction.

      I sincerely appreciate your advice. I also had the free malware bytes installed or so I thought. When I looked for it, nowhere to be found. Don't know how it escaped from the desktop.

    If you use Google Chrome, go under Settings/Extensions and you may be surprised by what you find lurking there.

      Thanks for the advice amigo but I don't use the chrome monster. I went into my little **** box and discovered the culprits. Coupon Companion is so bold they actually put themselves into the program list. I went to add/remove in the control panel and removed them.

      I feel like a dumb bunny for not doing this first but it never dawned on me somebody w/the good rep cnet has would do this to people. You can't trust anybody on this devil box except me and you and sometimes I ain't so sure about you .
