That's the problem with hiring people for SEO. It's very difficult to tell if they are the real deal.

First of all, don't hire anyone without testimonials. Find a company who is not scared about showing their previous clients. Find those clients and contact them, ask them about the service, and see if what they tell you sounds like what you are looking for.

Some people will use black hat techniques which are cheaper and will work until Google find out. Others will use white hat techniques which are more expensive, but safer.

But, never use black hat technique. If you use black hat tech and google can catch you, your site will be banned from SERP.

That is a difficult desicion, what I can recommend you is to ask them for a plan and deliverables, if you have been studyin or have a general idea about SEO you can see what they are doing and how they will be advancing on the issue, in that way you can track them and follow up their work.

The best is to ask them for at least 3 examples of websites that they have ranked and the keywords they ranked them for. The truth is SEO is a long term commitment. There are no short cuts in SEO and it really does take 3 months to just start seeing results and about six months to start earning revenue. This is becuase it takes time to build trust in your website to google.

thanks for the responses.

My problem is more around the issue of which company to go for. If all of them are giving me the same service and can provide me with testimonials...what to do? Go for cheap anyways? It's a new website...it takes time as it was mentioned before to build trust with google. So maybe just go in the beginning with a smaller company? Wouldn't it "hurt" the website?

1k dollars for six month is really a big amount . I would like to suggest you to go for paid advertising campaign like Google Adwords, Facebook, TV ads, Newspaper ads Once in a month. So that you will get a huge popularity in both online and offline.

Hopefully, the modern search engines like Google always prefer popular website to rank better in search engine. You just only need to have a little SEO knowledge for that.

It's very difficult to know how much time SEO will take because it really depends on your marketing skills, link building, strategy and how much time you are investing it. The only solution to his is hire an in-house SEO expert.

SEO really matter.
We all know what is the key role of SEO and how does it effect for website.
There are tons of website over web but only few are on the top. Having a website is not a big deal but the big deal is to have on the top in SERP.

It's depending on competition I would wait at least 3 months for my site. In that 3 months create lots of content, don't be put off if you don't see ranking increase, it's a long process, organic traffic isn't the be-all-n-end-all of marketing, while you wait for the organic, start working on other traffic streams.

Are you asking WHERE you should see SEO results or which company to choose? Well, SEO is really strange, you can get a good ranking after 3-6 months of work (if the niche is easy!) and if the competition is high, it can take months to several years... It all depends on the effort you spend to work on your website!

And to add to the previous comments. Get their clients portfolio. If they give you some excuse like for ex. due to client NDA, then they're most probably not legit or will do poor work for you, which might even hurt you in the long run.

What did you mean is that like seo services? I have experience about this from my friend in the other forum. SEO services is no longer help you anymore for guarantee your loyal visitor. You have to check what they did and have given to your blog, and how the progress. I prefer to take guarantee backlink service rather than fully automatic seo service for your blog, because isn't naturally. We didn't know what they have done for your blog.

Perhaps you need to do some research and figure out why trivago,
expedia, hotwire, kayak, orbitz, etc. spend millions on advertising.

Travel niche is highly contested and saturated market. You won't stand a chance against the big players unless you do specific localized targeting.

SEO takes time and if your not ready for the wait then dont do it at all. Having a few tools and resources in your coner such as a your own private PBN will def help speed the process up.

Also remember that there are a lot variables that go into how fast your SEO efforts willt take effect.
