Quantity doesn't mean much in e commerce SEO. I have a friend that dominates his market, and he only has 12 links (from the right places) He makes on average 50K per month.
This was a quote from someone in here. While some ppl get hundreds of junk backlinks from non-relevant forums and other sites, there are a few that concentrate on getting high, PR backlinks from relevant forums. (Hey - I'm guilty of getting junk backlinks as well).

So, what do you guys do? Do you rely on getting backlinks from non-relevant forums OR from somewhere else?

I would say getting backlinks from relevant sites with high page rank is the best deal. But getting backlinks from not so relevant sites with very high page rank like PR6-PR9 is also very good. The link value is somewhat devalued but say a PR9 devalued to PR6 is still hell lot of link juice to get don't you think.

as getting backlink from high PR sites is not always easy I prefer to get link from more relevant sites rather worried about PR.

  • Much - but not all - of the relevance is determined by the anchor text. If you're link uses your targeted keyword/phrase as it's anchor text, it has a lot of the relevance value.

More importantly, backlinks from 'low value' websites will convey very little ranking value, relevant or not.

I think the idea on links from ezine is to build the PR for your articles there so they pass the juice to your site. I saw a good post on here awhile back on how to do this swiftly by reusing the same sites and methods to build this PR for the articles.

I have tried both relevant links and high PR links, and my own experience tells me link from High PR sites are much much more powerful than relevant site!

May be other people has different experiences?
