Hi all,

I have been offered the management of a PPC campaign for an off line client of a business partner, problem is I haven't done a PPC campaign for a loooooong time and I don't want to mess it up.

They are a cardboard box manufacturers.
budget is around 350 dollars a month
My management fee would be around 65 dollars.

Their site does not rank well on organic seo, although it's not a bad site with some content, very functional shopping cart , not wordpress. Once on the site prospect would have no trouble finding their way around and the right products to purchase.

I am seeking clarification with my business partner as to the exact objectives of the campaign although I understand that their profit margin are at around 10% and a new customer will spend around 3000 dollars.

They have done campaigns before and I will have access to this data

I can do a range of keyword analysis and I think I have some tool to spy on the competition use of keywords.

What I am lacking is a simple strategy that would minimise risk and of course maximise return, I will spend some time looking at this section of the WF but if anybody as any advice or can point me to a relevant thread or WSO that could help I would be most grateful

Please PM me if you want to know the site AND you want to help me

Your help, as always is very much appreciated

Here are a few things you might consider:

With such a small budget, I would really consider starting with phrase or modified broad match keywords. While you are doing your keyword research, look for negative keyword opportunities as well.

You might also consider starting with regional targeting. Take the top 1 to 3 areas where he already has success and sales and start with those regions.

Take his website and plug it into Google's free keyword tool to see how Google looks at his landing page. That will also help you get more ideas for keywords and give you an indication if Google will understand relevancy for the keywords you are going to use. **Doing this for competitor sites also helps with generating keyword ideas.

If you are not familiar with AdWords Editor, its worth the time to learn it (its pretty intuitive) because it will really help you save time while you are managing it.

Don't mix his campaigns in an existing AdWords account. Start with a fresh account - just for his company.

    Hope that helps.

I have never used PPC Campaign before; and for a beginner like myself, if I follow this tips I should be able to promote one of my little niche product.

I will put these tips into practice myself.

        @it's just shelley

I like the idea of a more geo targeted approach , the company is in the UK but it might be a good idea to target regionally.

I will be getting more info soon on the profile of their ideal customer and the products they would most like to push.

Haven't done the scoring on their page , we ar still talking as to wether we need a separate landing page or not...

I have enlisted the help of a fellow warrior to help me manage the campaign...I don't want to screw it up.

I still think that they would be better off with some organic seo but I don't call all the shots on that project...we'll see

        Thank you all for feedback
