Duplicate Content Question

Say I have a great original article i want to post on Ezine articles to build back links to my company website.

Should I also put that great article on my company website?
Will i get penalized for duplicate content?
How do I go about this?or do I not?
Or is it more important to put the article just on my company website?

    1. Yes you can if you wish.
    2. Groan.. The words penalised and duplicate content don't go together. There is an absolute ton of stuff about the 'D' word here at warrior if you search.
    3. Copy and paste it on your site or maybe even rewrite it if you wish.
    4. The only comment I would make is that it is a bit pointless pointing a link from your article on EZA to the same article on your site. The EZA resource is intended for further reading.

Agreed on Sir Steve Crooks, Here is my suggestion, my great article was posted on ezine to build backlinks through my page then i will create new article to post on my page that is related to the one that i've posted on ezine to link on my page, this tactic for me will be effective because of the relevancy.

I wouldnt post it on your site. You are better off posting the best content you have on your site and posting articles which are not 100% unique to other sources such as ezine to build links.

I understand its hard work and you might not have that much time but I would do my very best to post unique content EVERYWHERE when you are building a link to your site.

I asked a similar question a while ago and I got pretty much the same response as above. Post it on your site first them to the article directories.

Your article will more than likely be rejected by EzineArticles if you do this. EzineArticles wants unique content, and they'll go looking to see if you've posted it elsewhere. If you want to post it on your site first, change the article some to make it unique again.

First of all, duplicate content penalization is a myth.
The only duplicate content Google penalize is across your site. Do not duplicate content inside your site.

Place the content in your site and wait until it is indexed, the publish it wherever you want.

its not considered really "duplicate" because its on a different website, host, etc.

True but the one with the highest authority will rank in in the SERPs.

My advice would be rewrite 20-30% of the article and keep the article for the article index short and briefly.

I always post the article to my blog first, then once it's indexed I'll submit it to an article directory. I do this strictly for the backlinks in the author's resource box.

ezinearticles and "great article" are words that don't go together.
Ezinearticles is full of 200-400 fluff. Junk.

Don't submit a great article to EZA. Publish the great article, mush
    it down for EZA.

I never post duplicate content on my websites. I don't see any problem with putting the same article on a lot of different article directories but I would probably write unique content for the main websites you own.

well then if I have a good long tail keyword isn't it better to post it on a directory with a higher PR then my own site?

That way I will rank organically for that long tail and get some good backlinks to my own site.

Will Ezine accept an article I wrote if I first publish it on my website, and then publish it to Ezine? I know they are quite strict about posting articles that is already on the net.

    "Duplicate Content" is so misunderstood.

This is a resource to clarify this.
