Rankings Plumetted After Adding Links OCR Input Content

Hi,
I have had a page plumet in ranking after adding a couple of links from web2.0s and article directories using articles copied directly from a book I bought. I used optical character recognition software to copy the content. This content was fed through unique content checkers and it showed 100% unique. I've also checked that there are no e-books for this book available on the Internet. So what has happened? Any ideas? One last point though, this page is a sub-page of a domain home page penalized by Google for unnatural link building. The page itself should not be penalized.
