scoping out the competitions links

So, following the advice i got here, i've been analysing the top competitions link profile (using market samurai)

i dive in there, and then look at the citation flow to see where the heavy-hitting links are coming from.
ok great.

but, how can i also get links from those sites??

are leaving comments frowned upon?

i'm half way through a fantastic link building resources that someone here recommend, but so far i havnt seen any chances for a broken link swap etc

any suggestions will be most welcome !

    email them and ask. I know that's some sort of revelation or blasphemy around here since its not using overpriced software or questionable SEO tactics.. but you'd be surprised how often it works if you've got something decent worth linking to.
