I've heard that about Magento too, have you looked at Opencart?

Themeforest has a bunch of Opencart themes but I also like the idea of Woocommerce, since 2.0. looks good too.

The default theme from WP does not include any spammy links, you got something else going on but it's def NOT from WP themselves.

All you need is a theme with Columns.

Just about every premium theme comes with column shortcodes [one-fourth] for example which allows you to do this type of thing.

There should be 2 ip's listed.

It's possible your work ISP hasnt updated DNS yet.

YOu could change your DNS servers to googles free ones as...

Sounds like your PC had DNS issues.

if you go to CMD prmpt and type "ipconfig -all" you will see what DNS servers your PC is using.

Did you FTP the theme to your server, or just click Install from admin panel?

Possible your wp-content directory is not writeable?

Hard to know for sure without seeing it.
