Hi Warriors

I have been using blogger. However recently I had been thinking of trying out wordpress. I noticed there are 2 websites for wordpress.

What is the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org?

wordpress.com = where you can sign up for a free blogger account
wordpress.org = where you can download the latest WP blog script to install on your server

I would personally suggest installing Wordpress on your own server. Do you have a hosting account?

This will give you more freedom to customize the blog as you please, as well as expand.

Although the free blog hosting services they provide at Wordpress.com is great, there's nothing better and more professional than having one in your own address.

Wordpresss.org has the 2 typers of blogs to download.
A single blog (with multiple users possible).
And WP MU that is multiblog aka like WP.com.

For any Warrior I would suggest using their own installed version of Wordpress. You don't get the level of control with wordpress.com.

However if you are new to installing scripts and things like Wordpress you might want to skip both sites and go to a host (Like Hostgator) that have autoinstallers (like fantastico). Fill in a few lines and click some buttons and Wordpress is installed for you and ready to go.

Yeah, your own blog on own domain gives you more credit.
And add a forum too for talking to your guests.

May I ask, how do I remove the column on the right that says:

    blogroll
    development blog
    documentation
    plugins
    suggest ideas
    support forum
    themes
    wordpress planet

    meta:
    log in
    rss
    comments rss
    valid xhtml
    xfn
    wp

    ?

It's part of the theme right?
I'm still exploring WP. I'm slowly getting a hang of it, but I'm still kinda puzzled with that part.

Hi from one newbie to another,

I just got rid of everything I didn't need in Blogroll and just added my own favorite websites. Fill up Blogroll as you wish or delete it altogether, you can always reinstall it as it is an available widget.
      Hope that helps

Got it. Thank you so much! (:

    Edit1:
btw how do I know what RSS url to type under the RSS widget?
To be honest, the only thing I know about RSS is, it's just text, text and more text.

    Edit2:
Also, how do I edit the CSS? There is no option to save.
I'm at the Edit Themes page, and it says
"You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information."
So basically I can't save what I edit.

You need to change the permissions to files that specify who and what can read, write, modify and access them.
This page will explain it all: Changing File Permissions

      Hope this helps

Thanks! I saw this page but I didn't understand a thing it was saying! (uh oh)
I think I'll have to ask my IT friends about this.
        Thanks anyway!
