FLV embed plugin - wordpress help?

4 replies
Hello -

I believe this is where I'd want to post this question, please let me know otherwise.

I have installed the plugin FLV embed for my wordpress site, and on the post where I put the code (for those familiar) [flv:"file location" 320 240] etc, the video shows up when I click on the indivual posting, but not on the main page which is where the posting is at the top.

Instead I get code and the "Get the latest Flash Player to see this player.
[Javascript required to view Flash movie, please turn it on and refresh this page]" warning. And I KNOW I've seen it working earlier today but I must have messed with it.

Again, it works in preview mode and on the actual page indivual to the post, but not on the home page. Any help?

Thank you!
Nathan

    Hello Nathan,
    The message about Javascript is usually related to the browser settings. Check to make sure you are not restricting Javascript with the Firefox plugin called Noscript, or in the options for Internet Explorer.

    You said it works in preview mode, and the actual page, but not on the home page. So that makes me think this is not necessarily the browser. I would check the FLV embed documentation and see if there is a special setting for the main page vs individual pages. I'll ask around and see if anyone else is having a similar issue. Thanks.

    Okay I checked the FLV embed documentation for you and found the following on the FAQ page.

    FLV Embed

    I keep getting "Get the latest Flash Player to see this player." message even though I have the latest Flash player. Why?
    It is very likely that wp_head() function is missing in your theme's header. To fix this, put the following code into your WordPress theme's header file (usually header.php, under Presentation -> Theme Editor), right before the </head>:
    PHP Code:
    <?php wp_head(); ?>

    Seems like you are getting this thing complex. I have tried before to add FLV to WordPress and it was not so complicated, you can check playerdiy.com
