In this post we'll deal with which is more important - one-way links from another site or on site anchor text links.
Those who understand search engine optimization will immediately know how totally ridiculous it is trying to put the two against one another! We want to encourage our readers to understand this - in order to create an effective organic search engine strategy, neither is more important than the other.
It constantly amazes us that many professing SEO experts encourage any who will listen to put more focus on one or the other without explaining an 'nexus' between the two is more critical than either independently.
Having placed more websites, onsite pages, posts, RSS feeds etc. into TOP 3 organic search positions, our advice is to focus on maximizing on-site optimization efforts before going in search of offsite opportunities.
To bring clarity, we'll use Walmart as an example. In the late 1990s, Walmart spread their business to every suburb, inner-city and area all over America.
Around 2006, they began to build stores in China. Although they continue to build a few stores in America, Walmart's main focus is 'offshore' business these days.
What has this to do with Internet marketing? The lesson from Walmart - take care of what is immediately within your reach before expanding into other markets.
Those markets being, for purposes of Internet marketing anyway, one way back links to your site. Let's get into this! We won't necessarily describe the SEO breadcrumb trail leading to particular pages and post on site but will however focus on post optimization.
In our Wordpress Set-up video tutorial series, we spent more time on page and post optimization than any other subject. The reason is simple - these are the first impressions anyone visiting your site will form of your business.
However, they will never be able to form an opinion if these assets aren't placed in high organic search position. Although there are literally dozens of topics to cover in just this area of website development, we will focus on five:
When an article is optimized with the above techniques incorporated in a flawless manner, there is little doubt both your bounce rate and on-site visitor time will increase. Some will tell you to incorporate 3-5 anchor text links within each blog post. What they don't say (or refuse to) is how many anchor text links depends on post link.
Another challenge with anchor text is the ever dreaded Internet browser toolbar! You have no control over what toolbar is on your website visitors browser. These plagues of the Internet marketer often contain some form of intext ad script which highlight certain words within content.
The average website visitor doesn't know whether this anchor text is from your site or a third-party. This beast does more to hurt web traffic than many its equal! You've worked hard to get the visitors onsite and suddenly, they vanish into the 'anchor text abyss of a third party.
Although unable to control this, what you can control is putting anchor text within every blog post or page to interlinked as much on site content as possible.
Of course excluded from this is the sales and squeeze page calling for some form of direct action. Be encouraged and understand that before you ever go searching for one-way back links, make sure you've taking care of home first.
