What Are You Afraid of?

Back when I started marketing online... to say I was afraid would be an understatement.
The thought of not having a constant, steady paycheck was a bit worrying, to say the least.
but I also knew that the flipside would be worse.
Listening to a boss... someone else telling me what to do, and how to spend my day.
Someone else telling me when I could eat lunch or go home.
THAT wasn't for me.
So, I often used that as motivation to help me get past that initial fear of starting an online business.
When I started almost 13 years ago, I'd often think to myself "this isn't going to work, I'm gonna be broke", I'm gonna be homeless, I'm gonna have to go get a 9 to 5 job, etc"
It would never get that way, I'd never go more than a week or two without landing a client or gig, but in that entire time... my fear would be "I'm gonna lose my house, my cars, my sanity, etc...."
Again, even with a safety net, these fears would overwhelm me.
I'd think "what if this all goes away and all the clients dry up" "what if this wasn't the right business choice"
All in my mind... all causing fear, stress, and worry... it wasn't real.
It was all made up, but yet I was reacting to it as though it WAS real, and it was preventing me from moving forward as much as I wanted.
One of the single biggest breakthroughs I've had, is trying to be as open and honest with myself as possible... so I could face that fear in the face and find ways to work through it, and not be paralyzed by it.
Again, I'd think of the WORSE aspect of having to listen to a boss tell me what to do, a boss who tells me when I can eat, go home, take a break, and more.
A boss who decides how much money I'm worth.
All of that helped me to break through the fear and worry... because I used that as motivation to NOT want to work for someone else.
so, anytime I'd be worried or scared about not making it online, I'd immediately think of the alternative that was even worse, for me.
And that was letting a complete stranger (boss) dictate my life and future.
THAT scared me even more.
These days, I still get afraid and fearful of certain projects or things that I launch online.
I think it's just human nature.
But when I start to feel that way, I also remind myself WHY I'm doing this... how it's better than the alternative of working for someone else.
And THAT often will light a fire under me and help me blast through certain worries.
What about you?
Do you ever find yourself paralyzed by a certain fear, worry, or stress about making it.
What do you do with that?
Do you let it overcome you and paralyze you... or do you use it as fuel and motivation to keep moving forward and doing what you need to do to succeed?
