URL's can do all those things you just listed and they can be read on a sign above a shop whereas a QR code has to be scanned close up.

Agreed but a business owner can put a website address in their window that the client can enter into their phone. They don't have to remember it just read it. Sorry but not everyone has a smart phone...

But you can do all those things with a URL? Yes I appreciate that you have to type the URL into a web browser but you have to have the QR reader on your phone to scan the code and if you don't...

My first suggestion was going to be that the client has a squeeze page on their existing site offering a free report to gather email addresses.
