you have to check if the links they got are from sitewide, meaning blogroll/footer links etc. If they have a blogroll link from a website with 10,000 pages, then they will have 10,000 backlinks but...

You can try link-assisant rank tracker instead. They have free and paid version. The free version does not allow you to save project but I guess it is enough for you to check you rankings.

i use private proxies for the rank tracker and its doing an excellent job...I think its because your ip was being blocked for running too many queries at 1 go.

I normally check spyfu for the cpc instead of using the amount from GKT. Also spyfu will show how many advertisers which is something you can consider, the more advertisers the higher they bid.
